Woven in Japan with silver metallic thread, this cushion began life as a vintage silk Obi - the ceremonial sash worn with a Kimono.

It's been carefully rebuilt into a piece your home can live with, where the light catches the brocade differently by the hour.

The motifs are cherry blossom and chrysanthemum - for centuries it has stood for renewal and longevity.

This is a one-of-a-kind piece. Once it's gone, this exact pattern won't be repeated.

What does the motif mean?

Chrysanthemum 菊

When Emperor Go-Toba 後鳥羽天皇 in the late 12th century started using the motif as his personal emblem, the flower's association with the throne took hold, and it has represented the Japanese imperial family ever since.
Today, it also represents nobility, longevity, and rejuvenation.
