Woven in Japan with gold metallic thread, this cushion began life as a vintage silk Obi - the ceremonial sash worn with a Kimono.

It's been carefully rebuilt into a piece your home can live with, where the light catches the brocade differently by the hour.

The motifs are butterfly and chrysanthemum - for centuries it has stood for transformation and longevity.

This is a one-of-a-kind piece. Once it's gone, this exact pattern won't be repeated.

What does the motif mean?

Butterfly 蝶

In Japanese culture the butterfly represents transformation and the soul, tied to its own journey from cocoon to flight.
It's also associated with young womanhood, joy, and the fleeting, precious nature of beauty.
