Woven in Japan with gold metallic thread, this cushion began life as a vintage silk Obi - the ceremonial sash worn with a Kimono.

It's been carefully rebuilt into a piece your home can live with, where the light catches the brocade differently by the hour.

The motifs are phoenix and winding vine (Karakusa) - for centuries it has stood for renewal and eternity.

This is a one-of-a-kind piece. Once it's gone, this exact pattern won't be repeated.

What does the motif mean?

Phoenix 鳳凰

A mythical bird adapted from Chinese legend, said to appear only in times of peace and prosperity as a sign of great fortune.
Because a peaceful world is the foundation for a happy marriage, standing for renewal, harmony, and auspicious new beginnings.
