Woven in Japan with gold metallic thread, this cushion began life as a vintage silk Obi - the ceremonial sash worn with a Kimono.

It's been carefully rebuilt into a piece your home can live with, where the light catches the brocade differently by the hour.

The motif is a crane - for centuries it has stood for longevity.

This is a one-of-a-kind piece. Once it's gone, this exact pattern won't be repeated.

What does the motif mean?

Crane 鶴

Cranes are said to live for a thousand years and to inhabit the realm of the immortals, making them a powerful symbol of longevity and good fortune.
A pair of cranes represents a happy, lifelong marriage, which is why the motif appears so often on wedding Kimono.
